Yankie's Shipping & Returns Policy

Yankie's ("we", "us", "our") operates the website https://www.yankies.co.za (or your final domain). By placing an order, you agree to these terms. We designed them to be fair, transparent, and protective for both you and us — especially with our focus on fresh, high-quality pantry staples at recession-beating prices.​ 

1. General

All orders are subject to availability. We update stock counts regularly, but occasional discrepancies may occur due to our on-demand ordering from suppliers. If an item is unavailable, we will:

  • Contact you promptly

  • Offer to refund the item, replace it with a similar product (if suitable), or wait for restock (we reserve other items in your order meanwhile)

We only ship dry, shelf-stable pantry goods (spices, herbs, rice, couscous, dried fruit, granola, seeds, honey, syrups, oils, etc.). No fresh/perishable items at launch.


2. Shipping Costs & Delivery

Shipping is calculated at checkout based on order weight, pack sizes, and destination (South Africa only at this stage). We use reliable national couriers. You pay shipping upfront with your order (card or other methods accepted). This is the final shipping cost — no hidden fees.

Delivery Areas We deliver nationally, with priority service to Nelspruit, Mossel Bay, George, Upington, Port Elizabeth, Ballito, Johannesburg, and surrounding areas. Remote areas may take slightly longer.

Dispatch & Transit Times

  • Processing time: Orders are prepared within 1–2 business days (Monday–Friday, excluding public holidays).

  • Dispatch schedule: Shipments go out every second week (or more frequently as volume grows). If you order within 24 hours of the next scheduled dispatch, it may roll to the following cycle.

  • Typical delivery: 3–7 business days after dispatch, depending on location. We’ll send you a tracking number by email/SMS.

  • For faster options in major centres, we’ll add premium courier choices as we scale.

Change of Delivery Address You can request an address change up to 12 hours before dispatch. After that, we cannot guarantee changes.

International Shipping Not available at launch. We may add selected countries later — contact us if needed.

 

3. Returns & Refunds

3.1 Change of Mind / Cooling-Off Period Under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), you have a 7-day cooling-off period from the date you receive your order to cancel for any reason (no questions asked). However, because these are food and pantry staples, returns are only accepted if:

  • The products are unopened, in their original sealed packaging, and in resalable condition (no tampering, no labels removed).

  • You pay the return shipping cost (we’ll provide a returns label or instructions).

Once we receive the returned items in good condition, we will process a full refund (excluding original shipping) within 10 business days.

Important: We cannot accept returns on opened spices, herbs, seeds, rice, dried fruit, granola, honey, syrups, or oils due to hygiene, food safety, and quality control reasons. Please order carefully — our clear product images, descriptions, and limited pack sizes (50g, 100g, 200g, 1kg etc.) are designed to help you choose confidently.

3.2 Defective, Damaged, or Incorrect Items (Warranty/Quality Claims) We stand behind product quality. If you receive:

  • Damaged goods

  • Incorrect items

  • Products that are faulty or not as described

Contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos and your order number. We will:

  • Arrange a return (we usually cover return shipping for valid claims) or

  • Offer a full refund, store credit, or replacement (subject to stock)

Under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), you also have rights for defective goods within 6 months — we’ll always honour these.

3.3 How to Return Email us at [your email, e.g. support@yankees.co.za] with your order number and reason. We’ll guide you step-by-step. Returns must be sent back within the allowed window and properly packaged to avoid damage.

4. Parcels Damaged in Transit

  • If the parcel looks damaged on arrival, reject it from the courier if possible and contact us immediately with photos.

  • If delivered without you present and later found damaged, notify us within 24 hours. We’ll investigate with the courier and arrange a refund/replacement where valid.

 

5. Cancellations

You can cancel any order before dispatch at no charge. Once dispatched, please refer to our Returns policy above.


6. Duties & Taxes

All prices on the website include South African VAT (where applicable). No additional sales tax at checkout. For any future international orders, import duties/taxes would be the customer’s responsibility (not applicable now).
